Hey its marwa my Question is Why does palma want to use Theo for everything.Yet his dad doesnt want his help at all? How could two diffrent people be married? Wouldn't this cause a problem in the marriage? Cant interprating for his mom alot cause stress? This could make theo feel trapped or troubled? His parents need to compromise! Palma cant do this.

ReplyDeleteThat is a grate question I think I can answer it.Anyways I think that Palma use Theo 4 everything becaues she knows theo is going to do what ever she ask theo to do.I would not be surprise if Theo wanted to start his life over because I would Theo should feel sad and mad because of the things he's gone through.
ReplyDeletejovani thinks tht this bOok iz like interesting and confusing because theo like has to interpret his whole family and that must be alot of work and it must be hard to travel places for u if u want to do something. i think this book is confusing because like yu have to ask all these questions and it says before u move on and asks u something they want u to answer it to find more information about the book thaT u r reading and the book has some words that u dont know but they tell u what it means at the bottum of the page that yur reading so thats whaT i think about of sound mind.
ReplyDeleteI think this book iz really boring theres no action going on in it. Nothing interesting is happening and I like books with drama in it I think book's with drama is cool. This book is not my type I would like to read another book with alot of ACTION.
ReplyDeletei think theo is having a lot of stress ecspecialy with his dad and trying to keep him company . He is also trying to get jeremy to go back to school. But he isn't spending time with Ivy his girlfriend . Maybe he is to stressed out or busy to do stuff with her ? Jeremy still won't go back to school and theo trying to make him.He also doesn't know what to do about his mom . All day she just stays in her studio drawing .

Every time ivy is with one of her friends theogets mad and starts to act werid.My qustion is why every time when ivy goes back to theos house to appologize for what ever she did theo is always blowing it? I also have a self connection about the book.When my brother Tito went out with this girl Taysha he will always hang out with other girls and taysha will always get mad.

ReplyDeletewat is up this book is about a boy who has to do everything for his mother and somethings for his family but he can never go anywhere with someone or go any place that he want to this book has a text to self connection where i was in a sittuation where i couldn't go anywhere with out premision but now that i am older i can do more things my without bieng told what to do i can just do for the most part i like this book i think it reminds me alot of who i am as a person in real life

ReplyDeleteI agree with Ian Theo does seem alittle stress all the time. He dose not spend alot of time with Ivy his girlfrined or nothing. I understand what theo is going through that use to happen to me alot. This story is sad and what's really sad about it is that people go through these stuff all the time.
ReplyDeleteI really liked this book alot i think that Theo mom and dad pressured him into not going to college because he needed to stay home and take care of them. I think that they should'nt do things like that to there own son just because he can sign and hear people it makes no sense for anything like that happens. But this book was good and I think Theo had lots of pressure all around with Ivy his parents and his little brother i really feel sad for him.
ReplyDeleteWhen thomas was having a stroke it reminded me of that time when my baby cousin got a bump on his face he couldnt express how painful it was and he couldn't tell anyone how it felt. when he went to the doctor he couldn't understand what the doctor was saying.
ReplyDeleteOn Page 240-241 theo dad (thomas) died while he was taking a a seriuos nap . Then they have a funaral for him . ivy cooked the food she was very sad that he died then she found a card that said "I'M SO SORRY .IVY." then after the funaral theo apolligized to Ivy and she forgave him .
ReplyDeletei agree with nakeyla. Parents shouldn't force a kid to do things he/she doesn't want to do in their lives. No one asked Theo if he wanted to stay home and help them for the rest of his life. No one asked him if he wanted to go to college.i think its really unfair. I also think that theo's mom is very lazy. she wouldn't take a taxi to get home. is theo's mom spoiled? why does she always need theo for every thing she wants to do.
ReplyDeleteI just started reading this book and it is really interestting. It really reminds me of my cousin!! He is the only one who can hear in his family!! His mother is death and so is his 3 year old sister and I feel bad. By the way his dad can hear but his dad doesn't live with them and he's always the one who translates!! He is only 7 and how old is Thoe 17?? I think that their lives are just alike and I think that's cool. Theo and Ivy are close now and they can relate. I also think that its sweet that Ivy is helping out Theo. Not in the rude way but Theo needed help. He didn't know what to do because he wanted to go to college but needed to take care of his family and I thinkk that's thoughtful that he would think about it because some people would just go without even caring about there familyg but he cares and that's very respectful!! I really got into this book as soon as istarted reading it.
ReplyDeleteI am on page 118 and not alot of stuff is going on right now all they do in this book is talk about what's happening in there lifes not really interesting if nothing big happens that's why i don't like this book because im a person that loves hearing about action or seeing it but if it does not have nothing to with action than most likely i don't like it.
ReplyDeleteI like like this book because it has alot of stuff going on in the beginning of it like how he justs meet a girl named ivy and then he sees her with a cheerleader and says he wont be able to fit in with that kind group and then he goes to boston to meet palma with his brother thomas harry and when they come back ivy talks they start to talk again and then it start to get boring thats why i like it some then dont like that much.

ReplyDeleteHey guy's whats up?...I think Palma doesn't realize what shes doing or just doesn't want to stop making theo do things for her, sometimes causing him to miss school which is very selfish.But luckly he sets her straight in the end. I just realized this book and emako blue are a little alike because, some of the character's are selfish and their tough when they need to be. I suggest this book to people who don't have anger problems because this made me alittle angry!:) And to people who are interested in the things iv'e just talked about.
ReplyDeleteI finished page 119 and I was alittle confused why would Ivy make Theo sound guilty when he's not guilty of anything.I have a connection with this because Ivy is complicated and my sister is the same way to think about it almost all the girls i meat are complicated and it can really get on my nerves I would have slamed the door just like Theo did.
ReplyDeleteMy opinon Palma bossing Theo around like a pet is just that she shouldn't be allowed to do this.Theo has a life too he shouldnt be interprating for his mom 24/7. The only time Theo interprates for his mom is when he wants to not when Palma says so. Also Theo shouldn't be calling his mom Palma he should be calling her mom. Just because his mom "sculpts" doesn't mean that she isn't your mother.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Marwa even though I just started reading this book. I think that Theo needs a life of his own he needs to be free and live his life to. His parents do need their son but their are things they can do without him, I mean Theo is still just a little boy and he needs to be free, but that dosnt give them the right to take away half of his life!. If I had a chance to talk to Theo I would say:"Theo if u had a choice would you rather live life taking care of your parents or have fun and experience new things? no matter if you still have to take care of your parents. [that would be a part time job]

Theo is a baby because he doesn't want to try one piece of artichokes just because it gives the same effects as drinking beer,wine, and gin. I also have two questions for you, do you think that Theo likes Ivy alot or not? How bad do you think Ivy likes Theo?

ReplyDeleteTheo do you ever get tired? well i do when im helping my mom interpret when were some that somebody doesnt speak sign language I help my mom. theo does your mom try and say things just to make you embarresed because she doesnt talk right.Theo when you help people do you feel like you need to do something by yourself do somthing you wanna do for once since you cant do nothing and all you can do is help your parents talk to people.of sound mind.
ReplyDeleteI finished page 123 and it is alittle sad for me to read. Ivy is talking about why her mother left her and she thinks it's her fault she left. I have a connection with this about my father. He left when I was little and I thought it was my fault he left because I did not like to listen to him when I was little than years later I found out it wasn't my fault it was because my mother and him did not get along. But I did not feel no pain when he left but Ivy is really hurt that her mother left. Hang in there Ivy.

ReplyDeleteTo me OF SOUND MIND is one of those types of books that you have to really read it and then understand what you have read or you just don't know what the book is about. When Theo has to keep up with his school and then he has tgo go home and sign with his family and his family doesn't know that he is deaf so he tries his best to keep up. But, with other kids thet would probaly give and just probaly do something like suaside or just go to foster care or something that is why this book is very interesting and understanding book! WOW!!
