  2. Right now I'm reading Monster and it's a really interesting book. It's about this 16 year old who is accused of felony murder. I feel really bad for Steve because he didn't even commit the crime. It's really not fair. I wonder what Steve's mother feels about her son being in jail? That must be a really hard thing to go through. If I was Steve I would be just as scared as he is because when he says it gets dark he could hear the screams of someone getting beat up in a cell. It's really sad if you think of it.

  5. My opinion about monster is good because there is alot of stuff happening in the book and they were on trial and all of them say there inocent
but i think steve is the only one thats inoocent
bobo was gulity and the rest where to but i think the judge made the right descion about whos guilty and not guilty at the end of the book it turns out good for steve cause he is inocent

  6. i finished the book it was cool but like into the book the ms.briggs or something the woman that was defending steve harmon didn't belive him much i guess because well she seemed kind of normal like thing so i kind of seemed like she didn't care because she thought steve was really guilty which he isn't so she treated him like an crimal but really he wasn't gulity at the end haha

  7. I honestly think this book is great because steve plays a scary person at the begining and he starts to make his case a movie which in my eyes shows that he is not scared to get a sentence. Also i like how steve's laywer takes charge and she likes to question people and make the judge think that steve is innocent and should be free. Also the witnesses set themselves up to get caught in numerous lies and then if they get caught they are in jail instead of steve the main character.

  8. i agree with you nico.......... I also think this book is great also because steve is scared at the beginning but then he decides to testifie just like Ms.Briggs told him to and she does take charge in the courtroom because if the other lawyer asked a question that might make him sound guilty seh says "objection". and the witnesses did set themselfs up...and steve was proven innocent!!

  9. Right now I agree with chelsey when she said "If I was steve I would be scared as he is". so right now I'm almost done with the book and it's getting even more interesting and miserious too.
    i love this book.
    :]

  10. I think this book is getting better because now Steve is finding the inner person in him and he s becoming more and more of a innocent individual each time he steps out of the courtroom and into his cell block. Also his mind is starting to tell him that his lawyer wants him to lose but I honestly think that he should beleive in her because if it wasn't for her he would be in a cell thinking of what to do each day of prison and not on what the jury and testimonial people will say on his behalf. Last but not least I think Steve should jus keep doing what is right and I think that everything will fall into the right places, I think its like a weather forecast you never know what will be in the sky for the day until it's in the sky... YOU CAN WIN STEVE!!!!

  11. what jogs my attention is the way Steve reacts to the quetions he's been asked. I mean like half of the time he acts like he doesn't care but most of the time he's trying to get the jugde to notice him as not guilty and that he should not be blamed for the crime.

  12. okay i already finised this book so anyways monster was okay even though i didn't think monster should of been named monster because it didn't seem like it was about an monster why not maybe the life of steve harmon or the life of a crimal or something other than monster even though it did say the crimals were monsters for taking life from someone or taking mr.nessbitt away from his home i wonder if i spelled nesbitt right

  13. Hey fellow classmates these are some of my questions and thoughts I'd like to share with you all.....Questions: Is Steve lying when he says he walked in the store just for mints? Can Steve's lawyer convince the jury to beleive hes not a monster but an innocent man? opinions: I actually dont think steve's completly innocent, but I don't think hes a monster either! I also think his lawyer probally doesn't think hes completly innocent either. prdictions: I predict there will be a shorter trial and hes going to be sentenced to 7-10 years in jail. Also, I predict in the end he'll get out of jail and his family will smile again!

  15. Today I finished the book MONSTER and the book was about a boy named Steve Harmon and he was on trial for murdering a guy named Nesbitt. When I first read this book I thought about who was the one to kill Nesbitt...The first person I thought about was James and Steve because of the things I first read about gave me ideas. When Steve was in jail I felt kind of bad for him even though thats a better place for him to be. Even thougnh i feel kind of bad for him but i have a family member whos always in jail and that be my brother.

  16. At first i thought the same thing that Brianna thought. why is this book called monsters? but.. then i got to read it more. I think that this book is called mosnters because it talks bout this guy and he is in jail for sumthing that he didnt do.Also evryone thought that he was doing sumthing wrong.Nobody belived that he was innocent. I think thats one of the reasons this book is called monsters.

  17. i disagree with you Amely. I disagree because I do think that he is innocent. Steve didnt go in the store and check if the police was in there. He simply went in for some mints. And thats what I disagree with you for. As for the question about his lawer i think that she can convence the jury that he is an innocent man. I think that because he really didnt do anythink wrong. He just happened to walk in the store at the wrong time and he wasnt friends with any of them he was an aquatanced. i dont think that he is going to be senteced anything because none of the witnesses said anything about steve they all said something about king and the others. I think this book is a good book and I think more people should read !!!!!

  18. Alright I just read the end of Monster and I'm so happy. When they went to court the person called the head juror said that Mr.King is guilty and Mr.Harmon is free to go. I think thats really good but i feel bad for Mr.King because he has to go to jail and who knows when's the next time he will see his family. His family must be distress. And it's really sad to see a family member go to jail and i agree with Imani my brother went to jail a couple of times also.

  20. I think that this book is very creative. I think that it is creative because steven makes this book seem like a movie.I predict that in the end of this boook that steven is going to be innocent.steven is not a monster. He isnt a monster because he didnt do anything wrong. It seems like he has no say in nothing. he is just quiet thinking of what is going to happen to him.nobody belive that he is innocent. on page 91 i think that it is sad that his father is crying.i think that it is sad because he is very worried bout steven.I can actually relate to this because i know sumone that didnt do anything and they are going to court .i know how steven's dad feels because its very stressful, you dont know whats going to happen.thats what makes it so scary.

  21. i just read the end also and it is happy. and i dont feel bad for king because if you do the crime you do the time its not anybody elses falt that he wanted to rob the store that was his own choice and he got caught but i do feel bad for his family though going through all of that stress. and hes gonna be in there for a long time because some one was killed in the robbery also

  22. i read the book too, and i wonder all the time, about if they made a movie about the book.
i think they did,but im not sure. that was steve's dream anyways.

  23. I also think this book is very good because it tells from the part of the scene in the store till the part in court and till the part he gets out. There is alot of things that go on in the book so for all the people who did not read the book should.

  24. I thought the same thing Brianna & Lizianyi had said," why is this book called Monster ?" When i first started to read this book i though Steve was guilty because of the book title . I thought he was calling himself a Monster because he murdered someone . But now , Steve made it clear he wasn't lying and he isn't guilty . Eventhough i finished reading this book i like to go back and read the ending of it . Where it says " What did she see ?" [he was talking about Miss O'Brien his lawyer] I think Miss O'brien thought he was guilty this whole time & she was dissappointed that he isnt going to jail . I enjoyed this book and i hope everyone else did .

  25. Well to me this book is very sad. I can insightfully see what his parents are going through. on pages #115 to #116 his father Mr.Harmon was crying in front of his own son Steve a.k.a. MONSTER! because he can't believe that the son he dreamt would be going to collage and being a expert at football was stuck in the cold jail cell. On the other hand though it's also Steves fault because instead of telling ther police that it wasnt him he wanted to defend his friends and told them that it was him who shot the owner of the store.

  26. I wouldnt want to be in the same situation as bobo the gang leader. because the judge and all of the other aterneys are thinking he is guilty on trial. And there talking to them about the the deal he made with the state. the asking him is the reason he made with the deal with the sate is so he could lie and he saying he was the one who took the all the boxes of the cingerrets and there probaly thinking he shot the the srore owner if he was in the store and took the the cigerrets and then he asked if you didnt shoot the guy who did. this is why i wouldnt want to be in the same sitatioon as bobo.

  27. I finally finished the book I would tell you what happens but I might ruien it for everyone who hasn't read it.... But i'm glade that Steve was found not guilty and James King was.ooops I told you what happend but anyways Steve is finnaly out of the court room and James gets put into jail. Now Steve's mother doesn't have to worrie any more, so I guess that James gets put in t ojail for 25 yrs or life I forgot. So read th e rest of the book it gets really interetsing.

    k bye ;] :]

  28. hi everyone i just started reading this book and i begining to like t this book is interesting because i think it was my second book choice and that is exactly why i chosse this for my book choice and this is the book i was looking for. this book has a lot of details so far i like this book i like this book because the book talks a lot about what can happened in real life like talk about jail thats not a good thing right because you don't get to see the people you live with and it sucks because there is someone allways looking after you it also realates to the fact that this sad because when this happens it caan really jump at you when you think of it.

  29. Mykia....now why did you have to ruin the book for some people? (even though I predicted that would happen:) ) Oh and dayosha I do think hes innocent but not completly innocent. I know i should just keep reading to find out but...mykia how does his lawyer convince the jury that hes not a monster? Also, does King end up going to jail and does he care?

  30. Reading the book Monster makes your thoughts vary as you read on in the story. It especially makes you think about life in jail. Everyone in jail has their own personality whether they are violent, confused, or just being accused of a crime that they didn't do like Steve. Steve seems really different from everyone else in jail. I'm sure there are people in jail that have been accused of something that they didn't do, but there is just something different about Steve's personality that makes him stand out. Even though he had a rough childhood he is loyal and respectful.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I want to know if anyone agrees with me on this but I think Leo had a rough childhood when he was growing up. It seems that way because on page 41 and 42 Steve and his friend Tony were walking somewhere. Then Steve threw a rock to show how far he could throw and it ended up hitting a lady with a tough guy next to her. So, Steve told Tony to run, but the guy started to yell at Tony. When he left, Tony said he was going to kill him. I think this situation is too much to for a 12 year old to handle. Whats really amazing is that if Steve did have a rough childhood he is still very sincere. Comment whenever you can because I would like to here what other people think about this.

  32. Everyone i know you might of thought that monster was going to be better but in my honest opinion the book is based on a true story and it seems as if it cant get any better than this. But to asure it can get better than this. Also the books ending should be very suprising to me as a reader who is almost finished, also it should be suprising to me because the book shows alot of evidence that can show that the defendant Steven Harmon is innocent as well as showing evidence that the defendant Steven Harmon is guilty. I hope that Steve ends up as freeman because if you really think about it no signal means that if you go into a store and go out and the next people who come in and rob the store they count you as an acomplice I think being on trial or that is just ridiciously out of hand that makes me question our judicial system.

  33. Hi its sasha this book is awsome, so first i'd like to tell you all the pages that I like, the pages that they finally put Steve on the stand for questioning and to tell the jury that he's not guilty and pages that have evedence of why Steve Harmon is not guilty. So the first page I liked was page 79 is shows the mug shots that Steve Harmon took before he went to jail. now here are the pages of when they put Steve on the stand, the pages are 168-172. now here are some pages from the book that are where they talk about why Steven Harmon is not guilty on pages 184 and pages 185 they talk about how mr.Evans and mr.King were the only ones who were in the robbery and that they restate how mr.Evans said that him and mr.King were the only one who got something to eat after the robbery but the real thing that shows that Steve is not guilty is that Mr. Evans said that only him and Mr. King that shows that Steve didnt get anything or moslty or maybe wasent even there. but enough details you guys can read the book on your own.

  34. I finished reading this book and at first i thaught this book was really confusing because i didnt understand the way it was written. It was written as a play. Anyways i think this book can relate to many peoples life because in this case there was a person who killed someone and a person who got blamed for it and got sent to prison... well yeah this is a good book !

  35. In the pages I'm reading now in the book monster Steve is writng in his journal about how his day went. He's writing about his lawyer Kathy O'Brien and describing her as being mad and how she was talking on and on about how someone played her in the courtroom or as he said it "cheap tricked her".One of the other lawyers that are against him was telling the judge all these other things that Steve didnt agree with. The other lawyer was making the jury and the judge believe that steve really did commit the crime t the store by showing the judge the pictuers of Steve walking outof the store of the day of the crime scene.

  38. I dont agree with kumani because this book is a good book and i would recommend it to sumone. the things that happen in this book actually can happen in real life. i agree with brianna. steve must be scared of all the things that are happening to him because he is scared of going to jail for sumthing that he didnt do.

  39. This book is not intresting. I thot that it will be better. Who would wanna mr.Zinzi his name sounds ughly so hes probly ugly. If its men tryin to rape him id get a gun so if they cam near me shoot them. You can tell that this guy i lien. Right now i dont like this book I hope it get better. I just want ti finnish this book and get a new one. I think it messeduo that this dudes doing jail for a crime he didnt do and I hope he makes a good movie. Next time hes in court hes provin not gulity so he can be free.

  40. I think that MONSTERS is a good book to read. i think that it is a good book because when i started reading this book i couldnt put it down.I couldnt put it down because it was very intersting. i think that steven is innocent. i think that he is innocent because he didnt do anything wrong.I also wonder why is king and the other guy lying a bout steve being in the robbery. but....! i have an idea why they are lying bout what really happend. I think that they are lying because they want steve to pay time for the robbery. They dont want to do the time in jail by their self. I dont know how they can just be so comforatble lying bout all of this when it is depending on sumones life.

  41. i like the book the book is interesting and it show detail.Steve harmon is 16 years old and he is on trail for murder.Steve think he is innocent but the only person who believe in steve is his mother. Steve must convince the jury that he is a good person but who is going to believe him when he look like everybody else who in jail don't believe him. Will steve receive a fair trail when he has already been a monster

  42. Hey guy's...its depina Aka amely and mykia....and I think the book is mysterious in many ways because, at first Steve said he went into the store for mints but towards the end of the book he said he never went into the store. one question we have is, what is he lying about and what is he telling the truth about? Also, which does he feel bad about himself for being in jail or does he feel bad for putting his family through this (or both)?

  44. Hello everyone its me again and now as a reader being almost done with the book I think the book has gotten better each time Steve has went into trial because when you are on that stand there is no lying you have tell the truth and nothing but the truth as said in the oath you make as you enter the stand. Also it has gotten better because when you actually think about it like Steve said all he did is walk in the store and walk out because if that was a crime everyone would be in jeopardy of jail right now and I know that everyone in this world agrees with me on that one. Last but not least I have to give props to Steve's lawyer for all of her hard work to keep Steve Harmon her client ot of jail.
