Be sure every post follows guidelines:
- 10 lines/sentences long.
- Includes a variety of your ideas: opinions, questions, connections (text-->self, text-->world, text-->text), predictions, notes on the author's style and purpose, etc.
- Shows your best Level 3, deep "treasure" thinking that explains your ideas (use "because...") and uses evidence from the text.
- At the sart of every post, say something to recognize and acknowledge the people who have written before you ("I agree about...", or "I see your point..", or "Thank you for mentioning..." or "I can tell you really feel....")
- Be respectful of others' ideas and use language appropriate for school at all times :).
Also remember, some of the best posts ask tough questions or challenge other bloggers -- do NOT just say you agree! Introduce new ideas and shake things up with your own thoughts and questions.
The book im reading is about a boy named jamal.Everyone messes with him, even his teachers and his own father. Then his brother Crazy Mack gets a crazy idea. He wants his little brother jamal to run a gang called the scorpions and run crack. I think that he is really bad example and a bad big brother. Why would he want his little brother to run a gang? Jamal says that he has no use for all that dumb gang jive. If i were jamal i wouldnt even think of joining a gang and i would ignore everything that he would say to me so i wouldnt get involved and so i wouldnt get in trouble.
ReplyDeleteJamal is sitting in the window waiting for his mom to come home. He has been sitting in the window for hours waiting for his mom. Its twelve o'clock and Jamal is getting worried. His sister is pasted out on the couch with the television on. Why is Jamal so worried about his mom that he is sitting in the window waiting for her? Did something happen to her in the past? When Jamal's mother got home she was talking to him about her seeing his brother in jail. He was talking about how he needed five hundred dollars for something about his case. His mother told Jamal that they didn't have the five hundred dollars but she would try to get it for him. In the morning, when Jamal woke up he took a shower and had a cup tea with some toast at the kitchen table with his mom. Ater his breakfast, he got dressed and went to school with his sister.

ReplyDeleteI think that this book is very good. I think it is good because it is about a boy who has been getting messed with lately. The people who have been messing with him are the kids at school, teachers and also his father. Then inn scorpion jamas(the boy) brother randy gets in jail. Randy's freind getgs a idea and wants to put jamal in the gang as leader till he gets out. I think that jamal should not go into the gang because he might do something that might get him in jail too. I think that should not join the gang. If you where jamal what would you do? i am in page 90.
ReplyDeleteDREQUAWN I CAN ANSWER THAT FOR YOU NO HE HAS NEVER SELLED THE CRCK BUT HE IS IN THE SCORPIONS GANG BUT I DONT THINK HE WENT THAT FAR YET AND HAS SOLD CRACK YET. BUT BETTER YET THAN DOING SOMETHING STUPID HE HAS GOT A JOB AND MAKES 15 DOLLARS A DAY FOR 3 HOURS SO THATS 5 DOLLARS AN HOUR FROM 10 TO 1.

ReplyDeleteWell i had just finished the book and now i think it is very good. I think it was very good because jamal is a good kid and chose to queit the scorpoins. in real life that is something most people are scare to when they are in a gang because they are scared to get shot. If i was him i would have not have gone in the gang in the first place so that people would not start to jump me for crake like jamal could have.

I thought that this book was very good because people in the stort are very like tough with each otheer in ways. Well i also think that the people in the book should not try to be rude to jamal because his brother randy is putting his brother as leader.
ReplyDeleteI HAVE ABOUT 10 TO 15 MORE PAGES LEFT TO READ AND THIS BOOK IS LIKE JUST SO AWESOME AND SO WHEN JAMAL SAID HE WAS GUNNA GIVE THE GUN BACK TO MACK HIS BROTHERS BESTFRIEND HE DIDNT BECAUSE HE SAID IT WAS TOO MANY PEOPLE AROUND IN THE PARK AND HE DIDNT WANNA GET CAUGHT BUT SO FAR AT SCHOOL JAMAL IS NOT ABLE TO GO TO HIS CLASSES AND HE CALLED THE SCHOOL AND THEY SAID TO BE IN MR.DAVIDSONS OFFICE IN THE MORNING AND THEY WANT HIM IN SCHOOL BUT TO ME THAT SOUND A LITTLE FISHY AND SUSPECT.

jamal is a very bright little boy but it just seems he doesnt know which way to go. and right now it seems that he is in the wrong place. jamal needs protection and he has it so if somebody messes with him he will show them what hes working with. i think sooner or later jamals mom will find out whats he been doing in school and in the streets. i really do think jamals mom would be sad and she deserves better she really does and she needs better cause it seems like shes going through depression.
